I'm really happy about the way this guy turned out. Since he's a gaming mini I didn't want to use the time required to get the blending super smooth everywhere. Instead I focused on the areas I thought were most important; the blade and the skin. Since the blade is very flat I didn't think I would get a good result from traditional NMM. Instead I decided to try some sky-earth NMM. I think it worked well, though I don't know if it's very realistic. Because part of the blade is in shadow, I decided there wouldn't be any horizon reflection on that part This also saved me from having to paint the time consuming SE-NMM twice :)
Unfortunately this figure had some of the usual Rackham problems. Pieces of the mold must have broken off and this resulted in strange lumps of metal on the figure. In this case the left side of his mouth was just one solid piece of metal. I filed away what I could, but I didn't have the courage to resculpt his teeth so I just painted teeth on. It looks ok from a distance.
