The i-Kore Elves The i-Kore Elves will be the next Celtos army to recieve an army book. Because of that, i-Kore has been producing a lot of new rank and file elf figures. The price of the blisters is 4-5£ (7-8.5$) for a character, 3.5-4£ (6-7$) for a champion, musician or standard bearer, 5£ (8.5$) for a blister with three rank and file warriors and 7.5£ (13$) for a dragon rider. The figures Most of the character figures for the elves were produced when Celtos was a series of Fantasy figures and not a game. This means that the character figures and the rank and file troops look a little different. Logically, that newer figures have a more coherent style because they were made for an army, and not for random RPGs. The newer figures also include the addition of the elf dragon riders and the half serpent sorcerers. One of the coolest things about i-Kore's range is that there are both female and male versions of the leaders and that each three pack of troopers include one female and two male troopers (of course if would have been better it there were two females and one male, but it's still really nice to see some female figs). The pics show an couple of elven heroes: Mebh and Irdril (painted by me). Next are three elf troopers and finally we have one of the dragon riders.
As mentioned before the design of the newer and older figures are different. The older figs seem like classic noble elfs but done in the i-Kore style. The new rank and file troops look thinner and taller. It is also worth noticing that the older figs are very detailed compared to the new figs (probably because the old elves were all characters). The armour and weapons of the newer figs are all made in the same elegant style, and I think i-Kore has succeded in making them different from the other Celtos races. They have also managed to use the traditional elf stereotypes, while still maintaining an original style. Most of the figures are made of multiple pieces. The characters are often made of two pieces: the body and the weapon, while the rank and file troops need to have a shield attached. I always pin the weapons of the character figs. With most of the figs it's quite easy even though I had some problems with the staff of Faeron the firewizard:
The casting is quite good. Not to many moldlines and I think i-Kore have learnt from their early mistakes where you could sometimes find moldlines in the figures' faces.
Celtos minis are on a standard 25mm round base. Pratical for gaming
Overall, I'm glad really glad i-Kore decided to expand the elven range. It has a nice mix of detailed and not so detailed figures. Actually, my favorite i-Kore elf isn't even one of the characters or the leaders. It is this little girl. What a great pose:
